Feature · Field capture

The proof from the field, captured on any phone

Your crew already carries the only camera the job needs. Photos, a short video, and a voice note attach straight to the work order from any phone — no app-store download, nothing retyped back at the shop. The proof of what happened on site travels with the job.

Capture · On any phone

Proof from the job, on any phone

A tech captures what matters where it matters — a photo of the corroded fitting, a forty-second walkthrough of the finished install, a voice note about what the next visit needs. Each one attaches to the work order itself, not a group text or someone’s camera roll, so a week later the proof is still where the job is.

It runs in the phone’s browser as a progressive web app: nothing to install from an app store, and a tech who wants it closer can add it to the home screen in a tap. Everything they capture lands on the same job board the office is already watching — the field and the shop on one record, not two.

Time · Field to invoice

Time that becomes an invoice

The same phone logs time from the field. A tech starts and stops on the job, you review what came back, and the approved hours flow into the invoice with the materials — no timesheet to chase, no numbers retyped from a notebook. The photos ride along as the receipt for what those hours paid for.

It is one line from field to invoice. When one of your businesses did the work for another, that approved time is exactly what you bill between them, and none of it costs extra — it is part of the flat $99/month plan.

Offline · Spotty sites

Works offline, syncs when signal returns

Job sites are where signal goes to die — a basement, a mechanical room, a rural lot with one bar. Capture keeps working anyway. Photos, video, voice notes, and time are saved on the phone and dropped into an outbox, then upload on their own the moment a connection comes back.

Nothing has to be re-shot and nothing is lost in the gap. The crew just works, and the sync quietly catches up — so a dead zone never costs you the proof you went out there to get.

Usage · Weighted, not per seat

Weighted media, never a per-seat charge

Adding a tech never adds a bill. MasterBuilds is flat $99 a month for the whole workspace, unlimited crew and unlimited businesses — the same flat-rate model that refuses to charge you per technician the moment you hire.

Usage is metered on the media you capture, not the people who capture it. A photo counts as one and a video weighs more, on a generous soft cap — and when you reach it we ask you to request more room instead of billing an automatic overage. It works the same whether you run one business or several from one workspace.

Photo = 1

Every site photo counts the same. Shoot what proves the job — the meter does not flinch at a thorough tech.

Video weighs more

A clip carries more data, so it carries more weight — one honest number, capped at about three minutes so it stays proof, not footage.

Soft cap, no overage

Pass the generous cap and we ask you to request more room — never an automatic charge landing on your card.

Questions about field capture

Do crew need to install an app?
No. MasterBuilds runs in the phone’s browser as a progressive web app, so there is nothing to download from an app store and no per-device license to manage. A tech opens the link and starts capturing; if they want it closer, they can add it to the home screen in a tap and it opens like any other app, camera and all. New crew are working on their first job without an install or a request to IT.
What happens with no signal on site?
Capture keeps working. Photos, video, voice notes, and time are saved on the phone and dropped into an outbox, then upload on their own the moment signal comes back — a basement, a mechanical room, or a rural lot does not cost you the proof. Nothing has to be re-shot and nothing is lost in the gap; the crew just works and the sync quietly catches up.
How long can videos be?
Video is capped at about three minutes at the point of capture. That is deliberate: a short clip of the actual problem or the finished work is the proof you need, and it keeps file sizes sane on cellular and inside your usage. For anything longer, a couple of short clips and a voice note carry more than one long recording nobody rewatches.
Does more crew cost more?
No. MasterBuilds is a flat $99 a month for the whole workspace, with unlimited crew and unlimited businesses, so adding a tech never adds a seat charge. Usage is metered on captured media rather than people: a photo counts as one and a video weighs more, on a generous soft cap that asks you to request more room instead of billing an automatic overage.
